It is a sparkly day

Although it remains very cold here today it is so bright and shiny and everything is sparkling.

The only thing is of course now all the dust is on show and it is going to need some serious work in the house.

I have succumbed to a stupid cough so will see what I can get done in between coughing fits.

Summer house needs a new roof

So about a year ago the felt came off the summer house. I covered it with a tarp as a makeshift mend and over the last few weeks it has been torn to shreds so I am about to start another makeshift mend of yet another tarp as I don’t have the time or skill to do anything different.

First I have to remove the nettles and brambles.

.

This is how it looked a few days ago.

Now with a new covering.

I also took a picture of the moon.

I read the meters today and sent off to Eon. Upon reading the electric one it said this seems high. Not sure what that is about but we will see when the bills come. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is there way of us to have a smart meter.

It’s cold today

 .

Having not ventured out due to warnings of difficult driving conditions I found this picture on one of our island newspaper Facebook pages.

It has been very cold we keep the heating on and then as the gas fire in bursts to try to stay warm enough.

Even colder overnight

Very white out there this morning. Even colder. However we seem to have a very strange dog who loves it and is spending more time in the garden than ever.

Advent

I think that this is probably my favourite season of all it is the lead up to Christmas I love rather than Christmas itself.

However I am running behind this yer and have yet to make my advent wreath.

Here is a picture of last years to be going on with.

Here is a description of why the 5 candles

Depending on which country you live in or the denomination you belong to, you may see several different versions of the advent wreath. The simplest and most common advent wreath contains five candles, each with a special meaning:

  • Candle 1 (“The Prophet’s Candle”) is purple, lit during the first week of Advent, and symbolizes hope.

  • Candle 2 (“The Bethlehem Candle”) is purple, lit during the second week of Advent, and symbolizes peace.

  • Candle 3 (“The Shepherd’s Candle”) is pink or rose-colored, lit during the third week of Advent, and represents joy.

  • Candle 4 (“the Angle’s Candle”) is purple, lit during the fourth week of Advent, and represents love.

  • Candle 5 (“Christ’s candle”) is white, lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and represents the advent child, Jesus.

Word of the year 2025

Like a lot of others I choose a word each year. For 2025 my word is;  Also I have chosen a bible verse which is: Do you choose a word?
